As a northern girl living in Texas, I thought I would pay tribute to the sport of, well, being a cowgirl. Barrel racing, bareback riding, and roping are all events of the modern rodeo. The rodeo season has started down here with the famous Houston Rodeo going on from March 1st - 20th. There is something fun and refreshing about the energy of country music, culture, and just down home, southern living. So, I present five pieces for your consideration: A Fresh Take on the Classic Cowgirl.
Instead of boot cut pants, try a
light wash skinny jean and cuff them. How about a
flannel shirt in bright colors? Substitute the cowgirl boots for a more
modern brown leather boot. Echo the famous cowboy belt buckles by pairing this outfit with a more
muted (but still oh so fun) belt. And to finish, if you're feeling bold,
this hat is just sweet.
