Saturday Evening Post.

My friends picked up a bunch of these vintage covers to decorate the walls of their dorm room. They found them at an antique store for a quarter a piece! So, I was inspired to look up these sweet magazine covers. Aren't they darling?

BHLDN.

BHLDN (pronounced "Beholden") is Anthropologie's new wedding website. Launched yesterday (Valentine's Day!), it is filled with the most beautiful treasures to make any bride swoon. As you can imagine, their collection has the sweetest of things that you could place in any classic fairy tale. The wedding dresses range from $600 to $3000, offering reasonably priced options. The bridesmaid dresses just took my breath away! They are such refreshing takes on the traditional cuts, patterns, and materials that are typically used. Safe to say, this site does not disappoint.

Flash Back: Oxfords

As the name suggests, the Oxford shoe originated in (yes, you guessed it) Oxford, England around 1800. Characterized by the laces and solid construction, it became the standard man's shoe. In the 1940s, Katherine Hepburn adopted the masculine shoe with gusto, setting a trend in women's fashion. Well, over 60 years later, the oxford is back in spades. A street trend all over the cobbled lanes of Europe, it can be seen in patent leather, standard leather, or canvas. Heels, flats, wedges, military boots, and everything in between - these shoes have made a glorious comeback. Try out TargetZara and Urban Outfitters for the affordable modern take on this vintage classic. Lace up your shoes and step back a half century.

Now and Then: Julie Andrews

What a cutie! Her little braids and crooked teeth remind me of Pippi Longstocking. That little girl went on to win an Academy Award for best actress in Mary Poppins and was nominated for best actress again for playing Maria in the Sound of Music. Quite funny to see how that gangly little girl would grow up to be one of the most timeless and talented actresses to grace the silver screen.

Red Lipstick

"Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick." - Gwyneth Paltrow

Red Lipstick. The finishing touch to many an outfit. A time tested trick to brighten up a weary face. Not to mention, it never fails to make teeth appear glistening white. Reminiscent of older days and flirty dresses. Think Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, & Madonna. There's something simple yet decidedly alluring about that hint of red. Use well and it will become an invaluable ally when paired with a cocktail dress.

Make sure that you are using the right shade of red for your coloring. There are two base colors for red lipstick: blue and orange. If you have warm, honey colored skin - you will glow in an orange based red lipstick. If you have fair skin, then a blue based red will suit you beautifully. There are some universal red lipsticks, however. Experts swear by the tried and true Chanel Rouge, the Chanel No. 5 of Lipstick. Pucker up and wear boldly.

Vintage Harper's Bazaar Covers

I think these covers are simply charming. There's nothing quite like the classic cuts, red lips, rich fabrics and starlet earrings. Put on some oldies and learn how to do the Charleston.

"Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point." - C.S. Lewis

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Somewhere I Have Never Travelled

Somewhere I Have Never Travelled
(By E. E. Cummings) Somewhere I have never travelled, gladly beyond Any experience, your eyes have their silence: In your most frail gesture are things which enclose me, Or which I cannot touch because they are too near Your slightest look easily will unclose me Though I have closed myself as fingers, You open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens (Touching skillfully, mysteriously)her first rose Or if your wish be to close me, I and My life will shut very beautifully ,suddenly, As when the heart of this flower imagines The snow carefully everywhere descending; Nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals The power of your intense fragility: whose texture Compels me with the color of its countries, Rendering death and forever with each breathing (I do not know what it is about you that closes And opens; only something in me understands The voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses) Nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
