The list goes on. And on. I thought these beautiful photos (found here) did a good job of summing up the exhilaration of summer and its simple contentment. I love making new goals for summer, setting my sights high and dreaming up the most wonderful adventures I'll have. This summer, I want to road trip with the car I'm getting and learn to play the guitar. What are some of your goals and summer dreams?

Street Trends: Thick Knits

Admittedly, it is getting a little late in the season to be wearing knits. I wanted to note that chunky knits were everywhere over the fall and winter seasons. But, as I was looking up different knits, I realized that the trend is continuing into the summer! Now hear me out, I'm not talking about thick wool straight from the Aran Islands. I've noticed that many designers are picking up the knit style and combining it with lighter, airy patterns and materials. For instance, the cotton pullovers and vest above are designed to be airy and fresh, but to adopt the look of the knits that were in store windows everywhere. 


So, here is a little more information on the pieces above...


1. Textured Linen Pullover by J. Jill: White linen is the most summery fabric I can think of, but when combined with the loose knit pattern it seems cozy and comfortable.
2. Heat Index Pullover at Anthropologie: Runs big and comes in several colors (plus, it's on sale!). It's soft fabric makes you feel relaxed, but you stay cool because of the lightness of the material.
3. Drop Knit Pattern Sweater Vest at Forever 21: Inexpensive with cutouts in the back.

Rainy Days in London.

Today, the skies have just opened up and it has been raining without stop, the type of rain that makes me consider whether building an ark is entirely ridiculous. One thing I do know is that a pair of good rain boots, a raincoat, and an umbrella are essentials for this type of weather. I thought I'd learn from the sturdy Brits who deal with monsoon weather like this much more frequently. So, look to these British staples to stay dry as the end of April showers turn to May flowers. 
 
Oh, and don't forget to have a strong cup of tea to stay warm and keep the chill away. As the poster says: "Keep Calm and Put the Kettle On." (I just love those sayings, don't you?)


Here's a fun distraction from around the web: British slang! This website has the funniest array of common English expressions and word usage. For example if you say a girl is "crackin" it means she's stunning. A kip is a short nap and you probably don't want to be called daft or naff. The list goes on and on! An interesting diversion for a rainy afternoon and a good preparation for any travel to the UK!
